Why Ginger Hits Different When Temps Drop: A Nurse's Halloween Weekend Survival Guide

Featured in this story-what's in the wagon?
Crab Apple Strawberry Ginger Mix-Minnesota Crab Apples +Strawberries+our cold-pressed ginger. Those pink bottles in the wagon photo-Fall favorites. Stock up on 64 oz glass bottles. Good for the week!
These are compounds that creates that real internal warmth. It's not just flavor, it's your body responding . When it's damp and cold outside, that warm feels different. It feels useful.
So, the big orange pumpkins, mini striped gourds, white cauliflower, and right in the middle, our Crab Apple Strawberry Ginger Mix bottles, tucked into the harvest. Farm wagon to bottle, that's the whole idea.
The Candy vs. The Burn
Halloween weekend is a sugar rollercoaster. I'm not anti-candy. But, that crash is real, especially if you are out with kids or working a market booth.
My swap: a 2 oz Pure Ginger shot before the candy, or a splash of Orange Ginger Mix between treats. You get a lift that doesn't crash, and the ginger helps your stomach feel more settled. It's the ultimate adult Halloween survival trick.
Three Ways I'm using Ginger this Weekend
Morning: Pure Ginger Straight Shot. Internal space heater on.
Afternoon- post market: Ginger TEA which now comes in 64oz bottles (drink hot or cold), or my favorite Carrot Ginger Mixover ice.
Evening recovery: Crab Apple or Lemongrass Ginger Tea I call this my Twin city version of a toddy!
Market reminder: Stock up before the rain!
We're at Mill City, St. Paul this weekend. With AM showers forecasted for Saturday, Friday is your best stock up day. All our juices are cold-pressed in St. Paul and go fast when temp drops. Everyone wants that heat. You can pick up at our production site at
308 Prince Street, St Paul, MN -Pick up your products fresh off the juicers!
Or if you choose market pick up, we will have it tucked aside with your name on it on Saturday.
My Own Weekend Plan
This weekend we're also scheduled for our flu and COVID shots. I do it every fall. As a nurse, I see how rough cold and flu season can get, and I want that base layer of protection.
Pure Ginger doesn't replace vaccines. Handwashing, sleep, or staying home when you're sick helps curb the spread of germs. Y'all know this....the nurse in me speaks....:).
That daily warm up with ginger makes the season feel more managable. Vaccines and healthy habbits do the heavy lifting.
If you are due for vaccines, check with your primary care or pharmacy on timing, especially if you had a recent infection.
Stay warm out there.
